South Rhodes Street development to convert 105 units to CAFs

Click slide for larger view Approved July 20, 2016 by the County Board, the South Rhodes Street development will bring three new, interconnected 6-story buildings containing 402 new market-rate rental units to the North end of Columbia Pike.  The new complex will replace surface parking lots and a swimming pool (to be relocated) but no existing rental units on the site of The Wellington, a three-building complex currently comprising 711 market-rate rental units.

In exchange for additional density, the developer (Washington Real Estate Investment Trust, or WashREIT, Wellington Apartments LLC) will convert 105 units in the existing Wellington complex to committed-affordable (for 30 years) rentals (click image above, from the development proposal, for a larger view).
